Description
I created Blush Coral to capture the soft warmth and gentle movement of shallow coral gardens. To begin, the sculpture forms with rich coral pink and peach tones that reflect the glow near the reef base. As the form rises, the colours shift into lavender and mauve, echoing light moving through clear coastal water. Because of these gentle transitions, the piece holds a calm, luminous presence filled with quiet energy.
I shaped each curve by hand and refined the form through several careful kiln firings. During each firing, the glass responded to heat with soft, organic movement, so I guided the colours as they fused. As a result, coral pink and peach settled at the base while lavender and mauve formed smooth transitions above. Consequently, the blended tones created a flowing gradient that mirrors natural coral patterns and shifts beautifully with changing light.
Blush Coral brings warmth, colour and coastal elegance to any space. Because its silhouette remains soft and balanced, it draws the eye without overwhelming a room. In addition, the coral pink and peach base add gentle vibrancy, while the lavender and mauve tones create a calm, soothing presence. Each piece in this series explores the movement, texture and light found in Australia’s coastal landscapes. Ultimately, this sculpture tells a story in glass shaped by hand, shaped by heat and shaped by the sea.
